NMB STRENGTHENS DIGITAL INSURANCE ACCESS THROUGH UMEBIMA MINI APP

DAR ES SALAAM – As Tanzania continues to embrace digital transformation across industries, financial institutions are expanding innovative solutions that make essential services more accessible to customers. Reinforcing this commitment, NMB Bank has enhanced access to digital insurance services through its Umebima Mini App, an integrated platform within the NMB Mkononi mobile banking application that enables customers to purchase insurance conveniently from their smartphones.

The announcement was made during the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), popularly known as Sabasaba, where NMB showcased its growing portfolio of digital financial solutions in line with this year's sub-theme, "Digitalizing Tanzanian Businesses."

Speaking to journalists at the exhibition, Martin Massawe, Head of the Insurance Department at NMB Bank, said the Umebima Mini App reflects the bank's commitment to supporting Tanzania's digital economy by making insurance products simpler, faster, and more accessible to all customers.

According to Massawe, the platform eliminates the need for customers to visit a bank branch or insurance office. Instead, users can browse, select, and purchase insurance policies that best suit their personal or business needs directly through the NMB Mkononi app, wherever they are.

He noted that the fully digital process offers customers a secure, convenient, and efficient way to access insurance services, supporting the country's broader financial inclusion agenda.

Expanding Financial Protection

Massawe emphasized that insurance remains one of the most important tools for financial security, helping individuals, families, and businesses protect themselves against unforeseen risks and financial losses.

To address the diverse needs of Tanzanians, NMB has developed a range of insurance products tailored to different customer segments. Among these is Matching Insurance, a specialized product designed for small-scale entrepreneurs and micro-business owners, providing affordable protection for their businesses through a simple digital application process.

By integrating insurance services into its mobile banking ecosystem, NMB is making it easier for customers to safeguard their livelihoods without the traditional barriers of paperwork or physical visits.
