AIRTEL, PUMA ENERGY PARTNER TO LAUNCH DIGITAL PAYMENT FOR FUEL

(Left to right) Puma Energy Tanzania General Manager Phillippe Corsaletti and Airtel Tanzania Managing Director Suni Colaso display the type of cards that will be used to purchase fuel digitally at the 46 Puma filling stations in Tanzania during a press conference held in Dar es salaam recently.

Motorists filling their cars at Ouma Energy fuel stations now do not need to walk with cash to pay for a service as they can do so digitally.

This comes after the company teamed up with Airtel Tanzania in coming up with a new product dubbed 'Airtel Money Tap Tap card' which enables car owners to make digital payment for the service.

Puma Energy Tanzania Managing Director Phillipe Corsaletti, said during the launching that the card would be used at all of their 46 filling stations countrywide.

"Under this system, all customers registered in the Airtel Money service would be able to make such payments at our petrol stations instead of using cash," he said.

He said the card has been made in a way tat when used it deducts money for payment from the customer's Airtel Money account to the seller's Airtel Money account.

To start with, he said the cards would be available in Dar es Salaam, before distributing them to other regions next year.

"This service is going to be implemented in two phases, the first one would be at 20 petrol stations countrywide from next year" he said.
