Tuesday, 03rd Feb 2015: I&M Bank (T) Limited has made fast progress in the industry, after launching its first unique, 24/7 Hi-tech Electronic Banking Lobby on the 1st Floor, Viva Towers, one of the land mark locations in Dar es Salaam. Tanzania.
This is a unique experiment by the Bank, providing “ANY TIME ANY DAY” 24/7 Multiple Banking services such as foreign exchange converter, bulk cash deposit machine and ATM for cash withdrawals.
The foreign exchange converter is basically a 24/7, foreign exchange bureau which will enable clients to instantly exchange foreign currency to Tanzania Shillings without any manual intervention. This service will be very useful to clients especially those who would like to make foreign exchanges during late hours. One does not have to be a client of the bank and all they require is just their passport to make the transaction.
BULK CASH DEPOSIT MACHINE: The other service that was introduced was a bulk cash deposit machine that would enable cash deposits particularly for shops and businesses which close late and still need to make the deposits for security reasons. One can make any amount of deposits any time of the day or week for convenience purposes without the need for a bank teller. The machine will count the money, give out a receipt and make sure that the client’s account is instantly credited. The state of the art, high- speed machine also does bank note validation, sorting and serial number tracking.
To complement all these services the lobby will also offer the conventional VISA enabled ATM Machine which will serve customers as well as all VISA card holders.
Apart from these high tech services, the Bank also set up a “VIP SERVICE LOUNGE” which offers non- cash banking services, in luxury and comfort equipped with a TV and coffee vending machine, where customers can sit and relax in a secure and safe environment while waiting for the banks personnel to cater for them. This banking lounge which will be operating from 8am to 8pm and will offer services such as requests for account opening, requests for TT/TISS, cheque book services, foreign currency prepaid cards, ATM debit card services, requests for BPesa cards and any other banking information and support for regular banking products.
I&M bank now becomes the first Bank in Tanzania to introduce this kind of hi-tech service in the Tanzanian market in partnership with Smart Banking Solutions Ltd who also recently partnered to launch the B-Pesa cards.
Pointing out the advantages of this system, I&M’s CEO Mr. Anurag Dureha said “With the new systemI&M customers will now be able to use the banking services more conveniently. This new lounge gives our customers alternative modes of transactions, besides the current ones that include branches, internet and mobile.’
“For a start the only foreign currency that will be available is the US dollar currency and soon other currencies will be added into the system to accommodate the needs of customers from different places of the world” added Mr. Dureha.
