Bank of Africa Tanzania has awarded five lucky customers a range of prizes in its ongoing accounts and deposit campaign in its freshest bid to spur saving mentality in the country.

Speaking during the brief award giving ceremony held at BOA Tanzania head office in Dar es salaam over the weekend, the bank’s Senior Marketing and Communication Manager, Solomon Haule said current and new customers of the bank still stand a chance of winning instant prizes when they open accounts or deposit money.

“We are very happy that to do the October draw where five lucky winners have won the following items namely: motorcycle,  cash prize, 100,000 shopping gift voucher, a Samsung Tablet and Samsung Galaxy Grand phone,” he said.
Haule named the winners as Tom Gathari (Motorcycle), John Raphael (Samsung Tablet), Ibrahim Agwanda (Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos phone), Mary Mushi (500, 000 cash prize) and lastly, Innocent Msigwa who won shopping voucher worth Tsh100,000.

Haule added that clients will win instant prizes such as umbrellas, key holders, mugs, t-shirts, Nokia mobile phones, there will be monthly draws where winners will get tablets, motor cycles, Samsung smart phones as well as fuel and shopping vouchers.

Explaining the mechanic of the campaign, the bank’s senior Treasury Manager, Cleopa Dickson said customers who open accounts with the required minimum balance will qualify to enter into the lucky dip and can win the prizes instantly,” he said, adding that those depositing into their fixed accounts also stand a chance to get up to 10 per cent interest.

The ‘Deposit and win’ campaign which was launched in September is expected to run until the end of November this year in which the overall winner stands to win a brand new Toyota Brevis.

 “The campaign also seeks to inculcate the savings culture among Tanzanians hence support financial inclusion by awarding customers who open new accounts with us,” said the Senior Marketing and Communication Manager.

On his part, one of the winners, Mr Ibrahim Agwanda, thanked the bank for valuing him as a loyal customer by rewarding him with a great prize and urged other financial institutions to emulate how BOA Tanzania is bringing people into financial inclusion.


The ‘deposit and win’ campaign runs across all branches of the bank in Tanzania. The Bank has branches in Dar es Salaam (ten branches), others are in Arusha, Kilimanjaro, Morogoro, Mtibwa, Mbeya, Tunduma, Mwanza, Kahama and Mtwara regions. In Tanzania, the bank has more than eight years servicing big corporate companies and small and medium enterprises.
