J.P. MORGAN'S CHIEF, JAMES DIMON FINISHES SCHEDULED CANCER TREATMENTS

James Dimon

In the days after J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. chief James Dimon disclosed he had throat cancer, the 58-year old executive received an email from Warren Buffett.
Buffett, the Berkshire Hathaway Inc. BRK.B, -0.60% BRK.A, -0.59%   head who had received treatment for prostate cancer in 2012, advised Dimon to rest often and bring entertainment such as episodes of Buffett’s favorite television show “Breaking Bad” to his treatment sessions.
Dimon did both. Now, about eight weeks after starting radiation and chemotherapy treatment, the J.P. Morgan JPM, +0.45%   chairman and CEO this week finished his scheduled rounds.
The longtime executive remains under the close watch of doctors, who will monitor his progress during the crucial upcoming months that will determine whether he is cancer-free, people familiar with the matter said. Dimon may still face additional side effects and possibly more treatment, and doctors will continue to watch for problems for several years, the people said.
Dimon has managed to get through the roughly eight weeks of treatment while remaining active in the bank’s business, working in the office nearly every weekday for at least a couple of hours, people familiar with his schedule said. People who see him regularly say he hasn’t lost hair and looks a little slimmer, and at times he’s seemed more fatigued and talked with more raspiness in his voice.
