Mining in Africa- Opportunities and Legal Challenges

The International Bar Association (“IBA”) in collaboration with the TLS are currently organizing a conference on mining under the theme “Mining in Africa: Opportunities and Legal Challenges” to be attended by lawyers from different countries worldwide. It is confirmed that the Conference will be held on 8th and 9th September, 2014 at the Julius Nyerere International Conference Centre (JNICC) in Dar es Salaam. Participation fees will be 300 USD for local delegates and 400 USD for international delegates. The guest of honor for the event is expected to be the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, His Excellency, Dr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete.

- Workshop on MMDA International Best Practices for the Mining Industry
- The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) in East Africa
- The African Union’s African Mining Vision and the Action Plan for Africa
