An airport supremo and the former boss of the group behind the Financial Times are in the running to become the newchairman of Barclays, it has emerged.
The Daily Express reports that Sir Howard Davies and Rona Fairhead are said to be among candidates under consideration for the top job at Barclays, which has undergone an overhaul after banking scandals.
Fairhead spent seven years as chief executive of the FT, part of publishing group Pearson, and is also a non-executive director of rival banking group HSBC. Barclays is seeking a new chairman to replace Sir David Walker, who succeeded Marcus Agius a couple of years ago when he left following the outcry over Libor rate-rigging allegations.
