NMB BANK DONATES HOSPITAL BEDS TO HEALTH CENTRE

NMB Bank Lake Zone Manager, Straton Chilongola (right) hands over hospital beds to Ilemela Municipal Council Director, Alhaji Mbyana for the Buzuruga Health Centre's maternity ward. the cost of the donated beds is TShs 4.4 million.

NMB Bank in the Lake Zone has donated four beds worth 4.4m/- to the Buzuruga Health Centre on the outskirts of Mwanza.

The beds, for use by mothers about to deliver, were handed over to the Ilemela District Executive Director, Alhaj Zuberi, at a brief function held at the centre earlier this week.

Receiving them, Zuberi said they would improve service delivery at the centre which serves many expecting mothers in Ilemela District.
He said Ilemela has no district hospital and many such mothers were being referred from the centre.

Zuberi said the centre, serving over 80,000 patients each year, including expecting mothers, had only two beds used for delivery before NMB made the donation.

He said with the additional four beds he was optimistic that services at the centre would improve a great deal. He therefore commended NMB for supporting efforts to improve the health of  Tanzanians, especially expectant mothers.

Handing over the beds, NMB Lake Zone Manager, Straton Chilongola, said the donation was made to fulfill the bank’s policy of corporate social responsibility.

He said NMB has this year set aside 1.3bn/- to support development projects, including those in health
