DELIVERY of medical services at Moshi-based Mawenzi Regional Referral Hospital has received a shot in the arm after securing an ultrasound machine, donated by KCB Bank Tanzania Limited.
The device uses a technology known as sonography applied in medical diagnosis through imaging technique for visualising internal body structures including tendons, muscles, joints, vessels and internal organs for possible pathology.
The practice of examining pregnant women using ultrasound is called obstetric sonography, and is widely used in watching the progress of a foetus.
Mr Michael Mauki, a resident of Rau ward who had once failed to test for kidney disease due to lack of the machine at the hospital. He said there were many patients who arrived at the hospital for similar tests but failed to get the service due to lack of the machine.
"Expectant mothers who had come here for testing were facing the biggest challenge for lack of the machine, we thank the KCB Bank Tanzania for providing the assistance machine worth 15m/-," said Dr Frederick.
KCB Bank Moshi Branch Manager, Mr Oforo Erasmo, urged the hospital to use the machine properly. Mr Erasmo said this year KCB has allocated 350m/- for its corporate social responsibility (CSR) budget and priority areas to get support include education, health, water and environment.
