Dar es Salaam, June 30, 2026 – NMB Bank has been honoured with the Outstanding Dividend Contributor Award after paying TZS 96.9 billion in dividends to the Government of Tanzania, in recognition of its significant contribution to national revenue and support for the country's development agenda.
The award was presented by H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, during an official ceremony held at the State House in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.
NMB was represented at the event by Board Chairman CPA David Carol Nchimbi and Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Ruth Zaipuna, who received the award on behalf of the bank.
The recognition underscores NMB's continued role as one of Tanzania's leading corporate taxpayers and dividend contributors, reflecting its strong financial performance and commitment to creating sustainable value for shareholders while supporting the Government's development priorities.
According to figures announced during the ceremony, the Government had collected TZS 1.32 trillion from various public institutions and entities as of June 29, 2026. Of that amount, TZS 800 billion, equivalent to 60 percent of the total collections, came from dividend payments made by profitable institutions.
The total collections represent an increase of TZS 300 billion, or 30 percent, compared to the TZS 1.02 trillion collected during the same period last year.
Receiving the award further cements NMB's position among Tanzania's top-performing financial institutions, translating strong business growth into tangible benefits for the Government, shareholders, citizens and the country's socio-economic development.
Over the years, NMB has consistently ranked among Tanzania's largest taxpayers and dividend contributors, reaffirming its commitment to responsible corporate governance, sustainable growth and supporting the nation's long-term economic transformation.
