FASTJET TO INTRODUCE THREE PLANES AS DEMAND RISE

Fastjet Tanzania plans to introduce three ATR planes with the capacity of 78 passengers’ seats to cater increased passengers traffic.

The company’s Public Relations and Marketing Executive Lucy Mbogoro said in Dar es Salaam on Monday that the introduction of the planes scheduled for delivery between this and next month was timely as the airline plans to add more routes in the country.

“There is strong market demand for passengers’ flights due to the increased number of traffic that pushed the airline to capitalize on the opportunity by increasing the number of planes and routes,” she said.

She further noted that with the introduction of ATR planes will allow fastjet to increase the number of flights per day to three where it has only one.

She said currently fastjet has daily flights to Mwanza from Dar es Salaam four times, to Kilimanjaro three times, to Mbeya two times as well as Lusaka and Harare three times a week.

Over the weekend, the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Nico Bezuidenhout said in a statement: “later this year fastjet plans to launch additional routes in both Tanzania and Mozambique with South Africa, as a new market, firmly on our radar.”

In another development, fastjet announced enhancing its products by giving an offer to first checked bag and snacks on all flights from Sunday where previously, fastjet charged all luggage and onboard snacks as separate purchases.

The move comes following several months of research into market trends and customer expectations with the airline exchanging its big saver and achiever fares for the new-look, value product.

He said: “We have listened to our customers and redeveloped our product to better match what travelers on our network expect from a value-airline.”

He added the company will continue offering affordable fares for everyone as the endeavours are to make air travel affordable and accessible in every market it serves.

“Beyond the redevelopment of our product, fastjet is also presently working on wider distribution and more payment methods, growing our network and making it easier for everyone to do business with us,” he noted.
