TAXIFY BAJAJI JUST GOT CHEAPER IN DAR ES SALAAM
Dar es Salaam. Taxify has announced a 50% discount for its Bajaji fares in Dar es Salaam as the company seeks to attract more Bajaji riders into using their services.
Europe and Africa’s fastest-growing ride-sharing platform announced the 50% discount in Dar es Salaam on February 28th for its Taxify Bajaji category where customers will pay TZS 150 per kilometer and TZS 50 per minute with a base fare of TZS 300 effective from Wednesday, February 28. The minimum fare is TZS 1,000.
During the launch of its Bajaji hailing category just two weeks ago in Dar es salaam, Taxify was charging TZS 350 per kilometer, TZS 75 for every minute spent on a journey, plus a base fare of TZS 750.
“The 50% discount on our Bajaji hailing category is a win for all Dar es Salaam residents especially those taking short trips around town ,” said Remmy Eseka, Taxify’s Operations Manager in Tanzania.
Eseka further explained on how much riders will be paying in fares on some of the popular routes in Dar es Salaam after the 50% discount offer. “TZS 1, 400 from Makumbusho to Sinza, TZS 1, 800 from Ubungo to Mwenge and TZS 2, 500 from Tank Bovu to Mlimani City” said Eseka.
Responding to a question, whether the change of pricing would affect the Bajaji drivers in the city, Eseka said, “We will compensate drivers with a bonus therefore ensuring that their earnings remain strong, and are not affected by the price discount”.
Taxify has continued to become popular in Dar es Salaam as it has just been three months now since the Estonia based ride sharing company launched in Dar es Salaam, but it has so far rolled out two categories in the firm’s ride sharing application, something that is making them stay ahead of competition and be the ride-sharing application of choice in all markets. Taxify Standard prices are currently also 25% off with the fares at TZS 560 per KM, TZS 110 per minute and a base fare of TZS 1,200. The minimum fare is TZS 3,000.
