TANZANIA BREWERIES, CRDB BANK TOP TRADING AT DAR BOURSE

Tanzania Breweries Limited (TBL) and CRDB Bank Plc have for the second week emerged the most traded equities at the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) after contributing 84.19 per cent and 10.05 per cent respectively, of the total turnover.

Also, Tanzania Breweries Limited, the country’s largest brewery firm emerged as the top gainer dominating the price movement within local listed companies.

According to the Zan Securities Limited Weekly Wrap-ups, TBL experienced a 3.38 per cent price increase per share or 490/- closing at 5,000/- per share.

For cross-listed companies, East African Breweries Limited (EABL) dominated the price movement. EABL experiences a 20/- or 0.33 per cent price increase per share, closing at 6,020/-.

Despite the outstanding performance of some counters, the equity market experienced a significant decrease in total turnover, closing at 2.86bn/-, which is 49 per cent lower compared 5.58bn/- of the preceding week.

Comparatively, key benchmark indices both were in green and red territory to close this week off.

The Tanzania Share Index (TSI) capped at 4,589.28 points, higher by 1.07 per cent compared with 4,540.77 points posted on the previous period.

The All Share Index (DSEI) closed at 2,551.38 points, lower by 1.17 per cent compared with the previous session to close at 2,581.71 points.

Three sector indices closed this week in both the green and red territories as well. Industrial and Allied experienced an upward trend, closing at 6,178.62 points up by 01.87 per cent compared to previous period closing at 6,065.23 points.

Banks, Finance and Investment Index experienced a decrease by 1.09 per cent to close at 3,006.53 points compared to last week’s closing at 3,039.81 points.

Commercial Services Sector did not experience any change last week closed at 3,953.28 point, which is the same as previous period.

Total market capitalisation experienced downward trend by 1.09 per cent compared to the other session, closing at 22.34tri/-. Domestic market capitalisation experienced an increase of 1.05 per cent closing the week at 9.73tri/-.
