M-PAWA which Vodacom Tanzania and Commercial Bank of Africa (CBA Tanzania) co-launched last year has gained immense popularity in the country, boasting of two million customers, currently.
The customers benefit from the saving and borrowing products that M-Pawa offers. ‘M-Pawa Tumekufikia’ was launched to reach Tanzanians in rural and urban areas by educating them and ensuring that no Tanzanian is left out in reaping the benefits of this revolutionary service that has so far empowered many people.
Atuza Geoffrey, a resident of Mbagala Chamazi, is among millions of M-Pawa customers that has testimony on life changing power of the service and how it has helped her during emergencies and even for investments.
‘Whenever I have emergencies, M-Pawa has been my savior, I simply borrow from M-Pawa and repay after some time. Today I can borrow 65,000/- anytime and this amount continues to grow with my usage of the service," she said.
Throughout the education drive period, Vodacom Tanzania brand ambassadors and officials will visit various areas in the country to educate Tanzanians on how they can benefit from the service and how they can easily secure loans.
Head of Brand and Marketing of Vodacom Tanzania Kelvin Twissa urged Tanzanians to seize the opportunity to gain knowledge on how to not only save and borrow but also to understand the benefit of joining the service.
He also added that Vodacom has seen a spike in the uptake of the service in the recent months which is testament to the usefulness of the service in the lives of many.
Mr Twissa said, “M-Pawa is easy to use. Customers do not have to go through ordinary banking procedures like filling forms, as they can open a bank account with CBA by accessing the M-Pesa menu on their phones and simply selecting M-Pawa.”
Other benefits are that M-Pawa does not have ledger fees, limits on frequency of withdrawals, minimum operating balance, as well as charges on the deposits and withdrawals from M-Pesa to M-Pawa account and vice versa.
