Dar es Salaam, September 30, 2026 — In Dar es Salaam, an evening can begin with dinner and end with an entire table singing along to a DJ. Somewhere in between, friends reconnect, someone celebrates a milestone, and plans for “just one drink” turn into a night worth remembering.
For the guest, the experience should feel effortless. Behind that experience, however, are people working to get every detail right — from the welcome, food and service to the sound, entertainment and timing.
After four years in business, 1245 Bar, Restaurant & Lounge is reflecting on its journey and the role hospitality and entertainment continue to play in bringing people together and contributing to Dar es Salaam’s vibrant social scene.
“Opening the venue started with a vision. Sustaining it requires listening, adapting and giving people a reason to return. Guests have choices, and every visit is an opportunity to earn the next one. And that is what we strive for each year,” said Opeyemi Sodipe, Chief Operations Manager at 1245.
Through its combination of dining, lounge experiences and entertainment programming, 1245 brings together different elements of the hospitality and entertainment industry. Its role extends beyond hosting guests to creating an environment where music, service and social connection become part of a shared experience.
For 1245, one of the key lessons from four years in business is that the details matter.
A strong entertainment lineup may bring people through the door, but the overall experience throughout the evening helps determine what guests remember — and whether they choose to return.
That approach is reflected in the venue’s upcoming anniversary programme, which brings together Tanzanian talent and international entertainment while expanding the scale of the guest experience.
Bongo Flava Night
On Friday, October 2, 2026, 1245 will host a Bongo Flava Night powered by Johnnie Walker, featuring some of Tanzania’s leading music acts, including Harmonize, Nandy, Abby Chams and Ommy Dimpoz.
The event will put homegrown music at the centre of the programme as 1245 continues its fourth-anniversary celebrations.
1245 Outside: 4PLAYS
Later in October, 1245 Outside will present 4PLAYS at Superdome Masaki on Saturday, October 17, 2026.
The event will feature Nigerian artist Young Jonn and Ms DSF, alongside a South African dance troupe, adding an international dimension to the entertainment experience.
4PLAYS will serve as the culmination of 1245’s fourth-anniversary celebrations.
The celebrations will continue on Sunday, October 18, with the Alto White Party, marking the anniversary of 1245’s sister company and bringing the weekend to a close.
The anniversary programme is supported by Don Julio, Heineken, Air Tanzania and Clouds Media, bringing together partners from the beverage, transport and media sectors.
For guests, the invitation from 1245 is simple: make time for good company, great music and an evening out.
Table enquiries for 4PLAYS can be made through 1245’s official booking channels, with early-bird tickets available through 4plays.1245tz.com or by calling +255 748 211 245.
As 1245 marks four years in business, the celebrations also provide an opportunity to recognise the people, talent, partners and guests who have helped shape its journey — while looking ahead to the next chapter of hospitality and entertainment in Dar es Salaam.
