ABSA BANK CONCLUDES “PLAY YOUR CARDS RIGHT” CAMPAIGN, ANNOUNCES GRAND PRIZE WINNER

Dar es Salaam, 21 January 2026 — Absa Bank Tanzania has officially concluded its flagship “Play Your Cards Right” customer rewards campaign, marking the milestone with a celebratory final raffle draw held at a press conference at Absa House in Dar es Salaam.

The final draw brought to a close a successful three-month campaign that incentivised customers to adopt digital and card-based banking solutions, reinforcing Absa’s commitment to promoting secure, convenient, and cashless transactions across Tanzania.

Final Monthly Winners Announced

During the event, Absa conducted the third and final monthly raffle draw, awarding a total of TZS 18 million to three customers who actively participated in the final month of the campaign. The winners were:

  • Mr. Abdulrazak Ali Seif – TZS 10 million
  • Mrs. Aysha Mbarak Meghji – TZS 5 million
  • Mr. Gibbons Samuel Katule – TZS 3 million

The draw was conducted in strict accordance with the campaign’s Terms and Conditions and under the supervision of a representative from the Tanzanian Gaming Board, underscoring transparency and fairness throughout the process.

Grand Prize Winner Takes Home TZS 30 Million

In the highlight of the campaign finale, Ms. Nasreen Karim Abdallah was announced as the Grand Prize Winner, walking away with TZS 30 million. Her win recognised consistent use of Absa’s digital and card banking solutions over the campaign period—demonstrating how everyday transactions can translate into life-changing rewards.

Leadership Reflections on Campaign Success

Speaking at the event, Mr. Aron Luhanga, Director of Marketing and Corporate Affairs at Absa Bank Tanzania, emphasised the central role customers played in the campaign’s success.

“This campaign has been about our customers from the very beginning. We are encouraged by how many of them embraced convenient, secure, and cashless ways of transacting. ‘Play Your Cards Right’ has shown that when customers choose digital banking, everyone benefits—from ease of access to stronger financial inclusion. We sincerely thank our customers for trusting Absa and being part of this journey.”

Adding to this, Mr. Denis Kessy, Head of MI and Analytics, highlighted the broader impact of the initiative.

“At Absa, we believe that every customer has a story that matters. This campaign allowed us to celebrate those stories—big and small—by rewarding customers for simply banking with us. As we conclude the campaign today, we take pride not only in the grand prize winner but in every customer who participated.”

He further noted the scale of the campaign’s rewards:

“Through this flagship campaign, Absa rewarded 72 weekly winners, nine monthly winners, and one Grand Prize winner, returning a total of TZS 120 million to our customers. This is a clear demonstration that choosing Absa truly pays.”

Driving Digital and Cashless Adoption

The Play Your Cards Right campaign ran from October to December 2025, designed to accelerate the adoption of digital and cashless payments. Customers earned entries into weekly and monthly raffle draws by swiping, tapping, or shopping online using their Absa debit or credit cards.

With the final raffle draw now complete, the campaign has officially come to an end. Winners announced during the finale will be formally recognised at a dedicated prize handover ceremony scheduled for February 2026, bringing the initiative to a memorable close—while reaffirming Absa’s commitment to placing customers at the heart of every reward.
