TAXIFY INTRODUCES 7-SEATER VEHICLES IN DAR ES SALAAM

Dar es Salaam, 16 April, 2018: Taxify, Europe’s and Africa’s fastest-growing ride-sharing platform, introduces a new feature on the app dubbed ‘Taxify XL’.
The new feature addition in Taxify’s application is meant to simplify travel within and around Dar es Salaam.
Taxify XL (extra-large) is a tailor-made category for larger groups with a sitting capacity of 7 passengers. The move to bring these additional vehicle types on board as new application features arises from the need to cater for a more diverse customer base which now includes groups who wish to use the larger capacity vehicles such as vans.

“The XL feature is one of the options that Taxify has created for those travelling in big groups. We currently have a standard category that accommodates a maximum of four people and a Bajaji category that can accommodate three people. The XL category will give people the option of travelling in groups of up to 7,” said Shivachi Muleji, East Africa's General Manager.
For his part, Taxify’s Operations Manager in Tanzania Remmy Eseka, said Taxify is the first ride-hailing app in Dar to offer the XL service adding that it is a product for everyone but specifically targets a certain group of people travelling towards the same destination.
“Car models like the Toyota Alphard, Toyota Noah, Toyota Wish, Probox among others are what our customers should expect on their next XL pickup,” said Eseka.
Eseka also added that drivers of the XL category vehicles have to go through the same training as drivers of the standard category. They are also required to have motor vehicle registration cards, valid insurance stickers as well as driver’s licenses.
Taxify XL launches at a 25% discount, setting prices at Tsh 1000 Base fare, Tsh 140 per Minute, Tsh 500 per KM, and Tsh 3000 Minimum Fare. Taxify will compensate the drivers on the platform with a bonus payment to cover the cost of the discount.
Taxify only takes 15% commission from its drivers, which is almost half of that taken by other ride-sharing platforms. This allows Taxify to offer lower prices for riders, while providing more take-home pay for drivers.
Taxify now has 3 categories in Dar es Salaam: Taxify (4-seater), Bajaji (launched recently) and now XL as the company continues to be innovative and stay ahead of competition.
