EAST AFRICA GAS COMPETENCE SEMINAR AND INVESTMENT ROUNDTABLE, DAR ES SALAAM, TANZANIA

The African Natural Resources Center of the African Development Bank (AfDB) is organising the East Africa gas competence seminar and investment roundtable in Dar es Salam, Tanzania on 9 and 10 November. 
 The Seminar will gather around 60 government officials and experts from petroleum ministries, entrepreneurs and representatives of gas companies and related private sector industries from Angola, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda. 
A 12-member delegation from Korea and several South Korean businesses will participate, led by Young-pyo HONG, Deputy President, of the Export-Import Bank of Korea. 
Senior officials from Tanzania government and public entities and representatives of private sector will also be in attendance. 
During the event, the Center will share its latest publication: a case study of Gas Domestication in South Korea and how it relates to African countries. 
Participants will discuss best practices and share knowledge to promote the use of natural gas in Africa, in particular the importance of an appropriate technology and a conducive environment to attract financing for the use of gas in domestic markets, including energy, fertiliser production, domestic use and transport. The seminar will look at lessons learned during a study tour to South Korea, organised by the Center in August 2017. The event will also provide a platform for networking and fostering investment and business links between government and private sector participants form African countries as well as invited South Korean companies. 
The media is invited to attend the opening session of the workshop and is welcome to interact with the AfDB representatives upon request. The Workshop program is attached here for reference.
