BANK M has announced it will once again engage with The American Chamber of Commerce in Tanzania (AMCHAM-TZ) to support the “DARAJA LA MAFANIKIO” (Bridge to Success) programme for the second year in a row. This year’s programme will focus on youth entrepreneurship, sharing ways Tanzanians can start and build successful businesses, employment creation and improved living standards.

The full day seminar will take place on June 18th at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre in Dar es Salaam and is expected to host 1,000 including university students, corporate professionals and young entrepreneurs.

Speaking in the press conference, AMCHAM-TZ’s DARAJA 2016 Producer Mr. Richard Miles said “This year’s event is organised to guide Tanzanian youth to learn immediate and practical methods they can deploy to create income and building wealth for themselves and the country.”

The main sponsors, Bank M’s CEO (Designate) Jacqueline Woiso commented that “Bank M is very proud to support DARAJA LA MAFANIKIO for a second time. The link between banks and entrepreneurs -- especially young entrepreneurs -- is very crucial to our economic development.”

Ms. Woiso added that “There are many reasons to promote entrepreneurship among young people considering the potential benefits. An obvious and significant one is that it creates employment and income for the person owning the business. However not all young people can become entrepreneurs, these skills also help youth adapt well to other careers. The positive attitudes towards entrepreneurship is quite evident among young people”, confirmed Woiso.

The seminar will offer presentations on best practices to establish new business, conducted by a panel of young entrepreneurs from different sectors, and followed by a question and answer session.

Speaking about “Daraja la mafanikio’’ success, The board member of AMCHAM-TZ Mr. Gaidi Faraj told the media that she is proud and delighted to continue DARAJA, an initiative developed to make a long-term and sustainable difference.

“DARAJA LA MAFANIKIO” is part of AMCHAM’s broader mission to improve the strength and vitality of the private sector in Tanzania, working to ensure a long-term sustainable ecosystem for investment and growth, helping to build a fair and transparent business environment, generating employment and improving the wealth of the country.

Participants are invited to register for free through www.amcham-tz.com/daraja-reg.

The American Chamber of Commerce in Tanzania was registered in 2010, and is a member organization made up of over 125 businesses investing and working in Tanzania. AmCham-TZ operates independently and without financial assistance from any government.
