In Dar es Salaam many go to eat at fancy restaurants and Five star hotels each day.

Tanzania Chefs Association – whose members are among the best in the country when it comes to culinary delights, got the chance to showcase their dishes at the second annual Food Festival sponsored by Coca Cola, Southern Sun and Heineken Tanzania.

Chefs from Akemi, Baobab, The Alcove, Double Tree Hotel, Chocolate Mamas just mention a few -- showcasing their  culinary skills and their exquisite recipes—in front of a crowd of more than 150 people in at the botanical gardens at southern Sun Hotel, on Saturday, 27th September 2014.

Along with approximately 20 exhibitors showcasing their premium food products from around the country, there were many restaurants offering fine dining and delicious food in starter-size taster menus.

“I like that all different types of cuisines were made available, we as got the opportunity to try dishes from the best restaurants in the country,” said a patron Shabban Mwausa.

This is a one of the kind event. I mean, it is not everyday you get to sample delicacies prepared by executives chefs.  I brought my whole family for this and they had lots of fun,” said another.

“We wanted to give food lovers a chance to sample our cuisines all under one roof. We have been cooking special dishes for our customers, so we do this annual event as token of our appreciation for their continued support,” said Eric Buitendijk, a representative of Tanzania Chefs Association.

DFF aimed at giving Dar food lovers live cooking demonstrations by the chefs; face painting for the children; live music and food tasters for everyone.

The event, which included a raffle which saw over twenty winners got a variety of prizes including tickets to Seychelles and Dinner for two at leading hotels and two return tickets to Johannesburg.

This fair gave ‘foodies’ a chance to try different products from across Tanzania and to learn more about the food products that are available throughout the country,” he explained.
