Bukoba Urban Member of Parliament (MP) Ambassador Khamis Kagasheki
Bukoba — Bukoba Urban Member of Parliament (MP) Ambassador Khamis Kagasheki has asked Bukoba Municipal Council to suspend the recently floated tenders for the sale of National Housing Corporation (NHC) houses at Kashai and Miembeni Wards.
This follows complaints from over 200 tenants at Kashai and Miembeni Wards who told the MP that the tender process was dubiously conducted. Mr Kagasheki said it was not proper to float tenders without knowledge of the Municipal Councillors.
He said he had already contacted the Municipal Director about the issue. He also said it was not proper to offer the Rwamishenye market to an investor without giving priority to the traders who had constructed the market complex.
The Kanoni village chairman, Msafiri Kakuru sounded the warning following reports that several traditional water sources dried up due to people constructing residential houses along water sources.
Mr Kakuru said residents from Kanoni Village had to walk for four hours to nearby water source while a 20 litre container of water was being sold at between 500/- to 800/-.
