NCBA BANK CHAMPIONS YOUTH EMPOWERMENT THROUGH JUNIOR GOLF IN DAR ES SALAAM

Dar es Salaam, 3 August 2025 – The lush greens of the TPDF Lugalo Golf Club were alive with energy and ambition as NCBA Bank Tanzania hosted its second Junior Golf Tournament, bringing together 140 budding golf talents aged 6 to 15 from across Tanzania—including Morogoro, Zanzibar, Moshi (TPC), and Dar es Salaam.

Far more than a sporting event, the tournament was a celebration of youth potential, inclusivity, and community building, echoing NCBA’s commitment to empowering future generations through sport.

Held in partnership with Strategis Insurance and Airtel Tanzania, the event was another milestone in NCBA’s growing legacy of using golf as a platform to drive social inclusion and youth development across East Africa—from Kenya and Uganda to Rwanda and now Tanzania.

“Golf is a thinking game—it mirrors the kind of intentionality we practice in everything we do at NCBA,” said Alex Mziray, Acting Managing Director, NCBA Bank Tanzania. “Through this junior tournament, we helped these kids experience the discipline, patience, and joy of a game that we truly believe can shape futures.”

At the heart of the event was NCBA’s signature campaign, ‘Numbers That Matter – Maisha Ni Hesabu’, a message that beautifully connected the precision of golf with the values of discipline and strategy essential in both sports and finance. Whether it was the distance to the hole, the angle of the swing, or the speed of the stroke, every shot reminded participants—and spectators—why numbers truly matter.

A Platform for Growth and Inclusion

The event marked the second NCBA junior tournament in Tanzania, following the debut edition in December 2024. With plans to hold similar tournaments every three months, NCBA is laying the foundation for a sustainable, inclusive junior golf movement in the country.

As part of this long-term investment, the bank donated 50 junior golf bags valued at over TZS 70 million, ensuring young golfers not only get a chance to play but have access to the right tools to thrive.

This initiative goes beyond sport—it’s about breaking barriers. For too long, golf has been perceived as a game reserved for the elite. NCBA is actively working to change this narrative, making the sport accessible to all, regardless of background.

One young golfer, beaming after his round, simply said: “I want to play golf forever.” That single sentence captures the heart of NCBA’s mission: to spark a lifelong passion, turning early exposure into real opportunity.

Beyond the Scorecard

What set this tournament apart wasn’t just the friendly competition, but the values instilled—discipline, focus, camaraderie, and confidence. For NCBA, impact is not just measured in financial statements but in the life-changing moments created on the course.

As the sun set over Lugalo Golf Club, one thing was clear: every swing mattered, every number told a story, and NCBA is committed to ensuring that story includes every child with a dream.
