Dar es Salaam, 29 Agosti 2025 – Vodacom Tanzania PLC imeingia rasmi kwenye ushirikiano na Shirika la Salesian of Don Bosco Kanda ya Tanzania, kwa kuzindua mfululizo wa miradi ya kijamii inayolenga kuwawezesha vijana na kukuza mchezo wa mpira wa kikapu jijini Dar es Salaam.

Ushirikiano huu umehalalishwa kupitia kusainiwa kwa Makubaliano ya Ushirikiano (MoU), yakionesha udhamini wa Vodacom kwa Don Bosco na Ligi ya Mpira wa Kikapu Dar es Salaam (BDL).

Ukarabati na Ufadhili wa Elimu

Kupitia mpango huu:

  • Vodacom imekarabati uwanja wa mpira wa kikapu wa Don Bosco Oysterbay, na kuuweka katika hali ya kisasa na salama kwa wanamichezo chipukizi.
  • Imewafadhili wanafunzi 80 katika vipindi mbalimbali vya elimu kwenye Chuo cha Ufundi Don Bosco Oysterbay, ili kuchangia maendeleo yao ya kitaaluma na binafsi.

Bi. Zuweina Farah, Mkurugenzi wa Uhusiano na Mawasiliano wa Vodacom Tanzania PLC, alisema:

NMB YAKABIDHI SH. BIL. 1.9 KWA VIKUNDI VYA WANAWAKE, VIJANA NA WENYE ULEMAVU JIJINI DODOMA

Dodoma, 29 Agosti 2025 – Benki ya NMB imekabidhi hundi ya zaidi ya shilingi bilioni 1.9 kwa Mkuu wa Mkoa wa Dodoma, Rosemary Senyamule, kwa ajili ya mikopo ya vikundi vya Wanawake, Vijana na Watu Wenye Ulemavu (WVU) kupitia mpango wa asilimia 10 ya mapato ya ndani ya Halmashauri ya Jiji la Dodoma.

Makabidhiano hayo yalifanyika katika hafla ya uzinduzi wa utoaji wa mikopo hiyo, ambapo Mkuu wa Mkoa Senyamule alisisitiza umuhimu wa kuhakikisha fedha hizo zinawafikia walengwa kwa wakati ili kuendeleza jitihada za Rais wa Jamhuri ya Muungano wa Tanzania katika kuwawezesha makundi maalum kiuchumi.

“Kupitia mikopo hii, wananchi watekeleze miradi yenye tija na kuhakikisha wanarejesha kwa wakati ili na wengine waweze kunufaika. Mikopo hii si zawadi, ni mkopo nafuu usio na riba, hivyo ni wajibu wa kila mnufaika kuitumia vyema,” alisema Senyamule.

Katika hafla hiyo, Mkuu wa Mkoa pia alikabidhi mikopo ya pikipiki kwa kikundi cha Bodaboda cha Kituo cha Magufuli kilichopo Mji wa Serikali Mtumba, ikiwa ni sehemu ya utekelezaji wa mpango huo.

PRIME MINISTER KASSIM MAJALIWA VISITS DAR ES SALAAM STOCK EXCHANGE OFFICES

The Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Kassim Majaliwa, strikes a bell to mark the official listing of over 28 companies on the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE), with a market capitalization exceeding TZS 22 trillion and more than 683,000 investor accounts, the majority of whom are youth and women. The event took place at the DSE offices in Dar es Salaam.

Minister for Finance, Hon. Dr. Mwigulu Lameck Nchemba, has said that the Government has put in place policies, laws, and regulations aimed at stimulating business, investment, and economic growth in the country.

The statement was delivered on his behalf by the Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Mr. Elijah Mwandumbya, during Prime Minister Hon. Kassim Majaliwa’s visit to the offices of the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) in Morocco, Dar es Salaam.

This step is a symbol of the Sixth-Phase Government under the leadership of Her Excellency President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, demonstrating how conducive policy, legal, and operational environments have been created, with a strong emphasis on building an inclusive economy,” said Mr. Mwandumbya.

 

He added that the Government, through the Ministry of Finance, developed the Financial Sector Development Master Plan 2020/21–2029/30 with the aim of facilitating access to financial resources for both the public and private sectors. He noted that the DSE has matured into a modern, transparent platform linking investors with companies in need of capital.

Currently, the DSE has listed over 28 companies, with a market capitalization exceeding TZS 22 trillion. The number of investor accounts has surpassed 683,000, the majority of them youth and women.

These are remarkable achievements that reflect the growing awareness and participation of citizens in investment, directly linking household economies to the nation’s development,” emphasized Mr. Mwandumbya.

He further highlighted that, in pursuit of the Tanzania Development Vision 2050, the Ministry of Finance and the DSE have a significant role to play in expanding the capital and securities markets within and beyond Tanzania. This includes encouraging insurance companies, banks, telecoms, and other sectors to list on the exchange in order to raise capital and drive economic growth.

This step will also support the development of new financial products such as Green BondsSukuk, and Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), as well as strengthen digital platforms like DSE Hisa Kiganjani to reach more Tanzanians, including the diaspora. In addition, it will enhance collaboration with the private sector and regional stakeholders to boost participation from both local and foreign investors,” he added.

STANBIC BANK URGES LOCAL CAPITAL MOBILISATION TO BOOST SOE TRANSFORMATION

OYA MICRO-CREDIT EXPANDS ACCESS TO FINANCE, EMPOWERS THOUSANDS THROUGH EASY ACCESS LOANS

DAR ES SALAAM PORT HANDLES RECORD 27.7 MILLION TONNES OF CARGO IN 2024/25

Dar es Salaam, August 2025 – The Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA) has announced a historic milestone after the Port of Dar es Salaam handled 27.7 million tonnes of cargo in the 2024/25 financial year.

This marks a sharp increase from 18 million tonnes in 2021/22 and 23.69 million tonnes in 2023/24, making it the strongest performance in the port’s history.


Key Drivers of Growth

Speaking on behalf of TPA Director General Plasduce Mbossa, Acting Dar es Salaam Port Director Abed Galluscredited the achievement to:

  • Government investments in port reforms and infrastructure.
  • Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) with DP World (Berths 0–7) and Tanzania East Africa Gateway Terminal Limited – TEAGTL (Berths 8–11).
  • The Dar es Salaam Maritime Gateway Project (DMGP), which deepened and reinforced the harbour to 14.5 metres, enabling larger vessels.


Efficiency Gains

  • Turnaround time for container ships reduced from 10 days to 3 days.
  • Larger vessels now making port calls – from 15,000 tonnes previously to 50,000–65,000 tonnes per vessel.
  • Nearly 4 million tonnes of cargo added in just one year (2023/24 vs. 2024/25).


Strategic Importance

Mr. Gallus emphasized that:

  • The Port of Dar es Salaam handles 95% of Tanzania’s seaborne cargo.
  • Every operational improvement reduces logistics costs and boosts predictability.
  • Diverting cargo to Kwala Dry Port has helped ease yard congestion and city traffic.

  • Routine maintenance and system upgrades.
  • Digital integration and streamlined documentation.
  • Stronger engagement with private partners and port users.

VODACOM TANZANIA REPORTS STRONG GROWTH AND PURPOSE-DRIVEN IMPACT IN FY2025

Dar es Salaam, August 21, 2025 – Vodacom Tanzania PLC has announced impressive financial and operational results for the year ended 31 March 2025, highlighting strong growth, strategic investments, and continued delivery on its purpose of empowering individuals, protecting the environment, and building trust.

During the year, service revenue grew by 20.5% to TZS 1.5 trillion, driven by robust customer additions and strong uptake of M-Pesa and data services. Net profit after tax surged 69.4% to TZS 90.5 billion, boosted by efficiency measures that delivered TZS 59 billion in cost savings. Vodacom added 3 million new customers, closing the year with 22.6 million users.

M-Pesa remained a key growth driver, with revenue up 29.3% and transaction value expanding 33.8% year-on-year. The company also advanced financial inclusion with innovative services such as:

  • M-Koba – a group savings platform now serving 1.3 million customers, over half of them women.
  • M-Wekeza – a mobile wealth management solution that attracted TZS 25 billion in deposits within months of launch.
  • Lipa kwa Simu – Vodacom’s digital payments platform, which processed over TZS 1 trillion in monthly transactions.
  • Short-term loans and Songesha overdrafts, which disbursed over TZS 3 trillion, supporting individuals and merchants nationwide.

Meanwhile, mobile data revenue grew 21.6%, supported by a 33.4% increase in smartphone penetration and continued network investment. Vodacom deployed 471 new 4G sites, including 126 sites in underserved rural areasthrough a partnership with the Universal Communications Service Access Fund (UCSAF).

Meneja Mwandamizi wa Idara ya Biashara Makao Makuu ya NMB, Reynold Tony, alisema benki hiyo ina dhamira ya kuhakikisha wafanyabiashara wanapata uelewa mpana juu ya bidhaa na mipango ya kifedha inayotolewa na NMB ili kuongeza tija na ukuaji wa biashara zao.

Kwa upande wake, Kaimu Meneja wa NMB Kanda ya Kati, Amos Mubusi, alisema mikutano ya aina hiyo ni fursa ya kipekee kwa benki na wafanyabiashara kubadilishana mawazo, changamoto na suluhisho. Aliongeza kuwa hatua hiyo inaimarisha uhusiano wa kibiashara na kuchochea maendeleo ya uchumi wa taifa.

Akizungumza wakati wa kupokea msaada wa madawati 100 yenye thamani ya zaidi ya shilingi milioni 10 yaliyotolewa na Equity Bank Tanzania kwa Shule ya Sekondari ya Wasichana Nyankumbu, Afisa Tarafa wa Wilaya ya Geita Moreen Komanya alisema hatua hiyo inaunga mkono jitihada za Serikali ya Awamu ya Sita.

“Tunazihimiza taasisi nyingine pia zione umuhimu wa kusaidia sekta ya elimu kwa kuwa ndiyo msingi wa maendeleo ya taifa letu,” alisema Komanya.

 

Kwa upande wake, Meneja Mkuu wa Kitengo cha Biashara cha Equity Bank Tanzania Leah Ayoub alisema benki hiyo imekuwa ikijikita katika kuunga mkono jamii kwa maendeleo endelevu sambamba na huduma za kifedha.

“Mbali na msaada huu, tumezindua pia tawi jipya la benki mjini Geita ili kuongeza upatikanaji wa huduma za kifedha na kuhakikisha ujumuishaji wa kifedha unakuwa na manufaa kwa jamii yote ya Watanzania,” alisema Ayoub.

MASHINDANO YA MPIRA WA KIKAPU YA MAKAMPUNI YA KICHINA YANAJENGA MADARAJA YA KIBIASHARA

Dar es Salaam, Tanzania – Jumanne 19 Agosti 2025: Mashindano ya 12 ya Mpira wa Kikapu ya Makampuni ya Kichina yameanza leo katika Kituo cha Vijana cha Don Bosco, Upanga, na yataendelea hadi Jumapili, 24 Agosti 2025. Yakiandaliwa na Chama cha Makampuni ya Kichina nchini Tanzania, mashindano haya yanawaleta pamoja wafanyabiashara na wafanyakazi wa Kichina kwa wiki moja ya michezo, mshikamano na maingiliano ya kitamaduni.

Zaidi ya michezo, mashindano haya yanatumika kama jukwaa la kujenga uhusiano wa kijamii kati ya viongozi wa biashara, wafanyakazi na jamii, yakichochea imani na kuweka msingi wa ushirikiano wa kiuchumi wa muda mrefu.

Makampuni ya Kichina yameendelea kuwa nguvu kubwa katika sekta mbalimbali za uchumi wa Tanzania ikiwemo ujenzi, miundombinu, nishati, utengenezaji na biashara. Uwekezaji wao umekuwa ukileta ajira, teknolojia na kuimarisha minyororo ya usambazaji. Pamoja na miradi mikubwa, matukio kama haya ya michezo huchangia kimya kimya katika kujenga mahusiano thabiti na ya muda mrefu.

“Mashindano haya yanaonyesha upande wa kibinadamu wa biashara. Yanawaleta watu kutoka tamaduni tofauti, yanajenga mshikamano wa kijamii na kuthibitisha kuwa ushirikiano si jambo linalowezekana pekee, bali pia lenye manufaa,” alisema Ester Manase, Mkuu wa Idara ya Uwekezaji na Biashara Benki ya Stanbic Tanzania.

EQUITY BANK YAANDAA KONGAMANO KUBORESHA UPATIKANAJI WA MIKOPO KWA WAJASIRIAMALI

Benki ya Equity imeandaa kongamano maalum kwa ajili ya wafanyabiashara na wajasiriamali nchini, chenye lengo la kuwajengea uwezo wa kukuza biashara na kupata fursa za kifedha kupitia mikopo.

Kongamano hilo limekusanya wadau mbalimbali kutoka sekta ya biashara na fedha kwa ajili ya kujadili changamoto zinazowakabili wafanyabiashara wengi, hususan tatizo la kutopata mikopo kutokana na kukosa utambulisho wa kifedha.

Akizungumza katika kongamano hilo, Meneja Mkuu wa Biashara wa Benki ya Equity, Leah Ayoub, alisema changamoto kubwa kwa wajasiriamali ni kutokutambulika katika mifumo ya benki.

“Wajasiriamali wengi hawajengi historia ya kifedha kwa sababu fedha zao haziendi kupitia benki. Hali hii inasababisha wakose rekodi ya kuonyesha mwenendo wa biashara zao. Equity imejipanga kusaidia kundi hili kwa elimu ya kifedha na mifumo rahisi ya kibenki ili kuwawezesha kukidhi vigezo vya kupata mikopo,” alisema.

Kwa upande wake, Emerald Mutajwaa, Meneja Biashara wa Benki ya Equity Mkoa wa Mwanza, alieleza kuwa benki imekuwa ikijikita katika kusogeza huduma karibu na wateja wake ili kuhakikisha hata wajasiriamali wa mikoani wanapata nafasi ya kufaidika na mikopo.

“Lengo letu ni kuhakikisha kila mfanyabiashara, awe mdogo au mkubwa, anapata nafasi ya kutumia huduma za kibenki ili kuboresha biashara yake,” alisisitiza.

VODACOM YASHEREHEKEA MIAKA 25 KWA BONANZA LA MICHEZO ARUSHA

Arusha, Tanzania – Vodacom Tanzania PLC imeadhimisha miaka 25 tangu kuanzishwa kwake kwa kuandaa bonanza la michezo jijini Arusha mwishoni mwa wiki, likiwa limekusanya wateja, mashabiki wa michezo na familia kusherehekea robo karne ya mafanikio ya kampuni hiyo.

Tukio hilo lilihitimishwa kwa mchezo wa soka ambapo Kuza FC ilinyakua ubingwa dhidi ya Kitambi Noma FC baada ya pambano la kuvutia. Kapteni wa Kuza FC, Gabriel Mwandembwa, alipokea kombe kutoka kwa Makamu Mwenyekiti wa Chama cha Soka cha Arusha (ARFA), Jame Rugagila.

SERIKALI YAIPONGEZA NMB KWA KUCHANGIA MILIONI 30/- TAIFA STARS CHAN 2024

Serikali imeishukuru na kuipongeza Benki ya NMB kwa mchango wa Shilingi Milioni 30/- ili kuhamasisha mashabiki na wachezaji wa Taifa Stars kuelekea mchezo wa robo fainali ya Michuano ya Mataifa ya Afrika kwa Wachezaji wa Ndani (CHAN 2024) dhidi ya Morocco, utakaochezwa Ijumaa, Agosti 22, kwenye Uwanja wa Benjamin Mkapa jijini Dar es Salaam.

Akizungumza wakati wa kupokea hundi ya mfano ya mchango huo, Katibu Mkuu wa Wizara ya Habari, Utamaduni, Sanaa na Michezo, Gerson Msigwa, aliishukuru NMB kwa mchango huo na kusisitiza kuwa benki hiyo imeonesha mfano wa kuigwa katika kuunga mkono jitihada za Rais Samia Suluhu Hassan.

“Serikali inawashukuru sana NMB. Wizara itamuorodhesha Afisa Mtendaji Mkuu wa NMB, Bi. Ruth Zaipuna, kama mmoja wa wanamichezo wa kupigiwa mfano. NMB ni ndugu zetu na mchango huu ni wa kupongezwa,” alisema Msigwa.

 

Aidha, Msigwa alitoa wito kwa makampuni, mashirika na taasisi nyingine kuunga mkono jitihada hizo, akisisitiza kuwa huu ndio wakati wa Watanzania wote kushirikiana kuhakikisha Taifa Stars inafanya vizuri.

ABSA GROUP REPORTS 17% HEADLINE EARNINGS GROWTH IN H1 2025, SUPPORTED BY LOWER IMPAIRMENTS

  • Operating costs grew 6% to R30.0 billion
  • Cost-to-income ratio increased to 53.2% from 52.7%
  • Dividend per share increased 15% to 785 cents
  • Return on equity increased to 14.8% from 14.0%
  • Common Equity Tier 1 (CET1) ratio of 12.5%, slightly lower than the prior year (12.7%)


Absa Group delivered strong earnings growth for the first half of 2025, reflecting the successful execution of its strategic priorities. Headline earnings rose 17% as credit impairments declined and pre-provision profit grew.

Revenue growth was underpinned by strong non-interest income and stable net interest income, reflecting solid divisional contributions. Geographically, the Group’s South African operations delivered double-digit earnings growth, mainly due to lower impairments, while Africa regions’ performance was supported by strong pre-provision profit growth and customer acquisition.

“Our interim earnings performance demonstrates good progress on strategic priorities during this period, including operational reorganisation, divisional alignment, and enhanced client focus. Headline earnings increased 17% and our return on equity continues to improve, showing the benefit of our diversified footprint with operations in 16 countries,” said Kenny Fihla, who joined Absa Group as Chief Executive Officer on 17 June 2025.

Hafla ya maadhimisho hayo imefanyika katika makao makuu ya benki hiyo – Exim Tower, jijini Dar es Salaam, na imewakutanisha wafanyakazi pamoja na menejimenti kutafakari safari ya benki tangu ilipoanza mwaka 1997. Ni safari iliyojaa ukuaji, ubunifu, na huduma zinazomtanguliza mteja katika kila hatua.

Safari ya Exim imekuwa ya mafanikio makubwa – kutoka tawi moja pekee lililokuwa Mtaa wa Samora, Dar es Salaam, hadi kuwa taasisi ya kimataifa yenye matawi katika Comoro, Djibouti na Uganda. Wito huo ulitolewa na Meneja wa NMB Tawi la Mkuranga, Godwin Manimo, katika mahafali ya tatu na ya tano ya wanafunzi wa Kidato cha Nne na Darasa la Saba wa shule za Al-Rahmah Complex, yaliyofanyika Mkuranga mkoani Pwani chini ya usimamizi wa Al-Rahmah Development Complex.

Mitihani ya Taifa ya Darasa la Saba, inayoandaliwa na Baraza la Mitihani la Taifa (NECTA), imepangwa kufanyika Septemba 10 na 11 mwaka huu, huku ile ya Kidato cha Nne ikianza Novemba 10, 2025. Wanafunzi wa Al-Rahmah wataungana na wenzao kote nchini kuhitimisha hatua moja ya elimu kabla ya kuanza nyingine mwaka 2026.

Akizungumza katika mahafali hayo yaliyodhaminiwa na NMB kupitia Akaunti za Mtoto na Chipukizi, Manimo aliwapongeza wazazi na walezi kwa kujitoa na kuwekeza katika elimu ya watoto wao.

NMB KIJJI DAY KUENDELEA KUELIMISHA JAMII KUHUSU USALAMA WA FEDHA VIJIJINI

Akizungumza katika tamasha la NMB Kijiji Day lililofanyika Misongeni, Morogoro, Meneja wa NMB Kanda ya Kati, Janeth Shango, alisema benki itaendeleza mbinu mpya za kupeleka elimu moja kwa moja vijijini, ikiwemo:

  • Kushirikiana na wananchi kupitia michezo na burudani
  • Kuwapa elimu ya kifedha
  • Kutoa suluhu za kifedha kwa wananchi

Shango aliongeza kuwa mpango huu utasaidia kuondoa changamoto za upatikanaji wa huduma za kibenki, hususan maeneo ya mbali yenye ukosefu wa miundombinu.
