AIRTEL TANZANIA: EMPOWERING THE NEXT GENERATION ON WORLD CHILDREN’S DAY

As the world marks World Children’s Day today, November 20th, Airtel Tanzania stands out as a dedicated champion of children’s welfare, education, and digital empowerment. Through impactful initiatives such as Smart Wasomi and the Airtel Renovation School Project, the company continues to open new doors for young learners across the country—helping hundreds of thousands of children build a smarter, brighter future.

Building Conducive Learning Environments

Airtel Tanzania’s commitment to quality education is evident through the Airtel Renovation School Project, an initiative aimed at upgrading infrastructure in public primary schools. Completed and ongoing projects include:

  • Kiromo Primary School in Bagamoyo (renovated)
  • Mnyuzi Primary School in Songwe (upcoming renovation)

These efforts ensure that students learn in safe, clean, and motivating environments—spaces where they can concentrate, feel inspired, and thrive.

Promoting Digital Literacy

Recognising the critical role of technology in modern education, Airtel provides internet connectivity to schools supported under the renovation initiative. By bridging the digital divide, students gain access to online learning tools, research opportunities, and essential digital skills.

Under its Promoting Digital Literacy programme, Airtel has already supported more than 301,719 students, giving them reliable internet access that enhances both teaching and learning.

Free Access to Learning Resources

Through the SmartWasomi Project, Airtel offers zero-rated access to select educational platforms. This allows children to study for free—removing cost barriers and promoting inclusive learning for all. The initiative ensures that children can access valuable learning content conveniently, anytime and anywhere.

Championing Children’s Rights

Airtel Tanzania’s efforts align with the 2025 World Children’s Day theme: "My Day, My Right", which emphasizes listening to children—understanding their experiences, and ensuring that their rights are respected and upheld.

The theme encourages children to share their ideas, visions, and hopes for the world they want to live in. As society embraces digital transformation, Airtel Tanzania continues to provide the tools and platforms that help young people dream bigger and turn those dreams into reality.

A Future Built on Opportunity

By investing in school infrastructure, digital connectivity, and free educational access, Airtel Tanzania is strengthening its long-standing commitment to children’s well-being. The company is not only supporting academic excellence but also empowering the next generation to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital world.
